Ávoris and DIT Gestión sign strategic agreement which does not involve acquisition
AÁvoris Corporación Empresarial and the DIT Gestión group announced last Friday, the 5th, a strategic alliance with which they intend to strengthen their positioning and leadership in the market. The announcement took place during the DIT Gestión Convention, in Cuba, which is being held until this Monday, the 8th, and puts an end to the news of a possible purchase of DIT Gestión by Ávoris.
“We have reached an agreement, but not for the sale of anything. We are talking about a commercial agreement with Ávoris, where they are going to help us with their technology and in many other areas. That is what we are looking for,” said Jon Arriaga, president of DIT Gestion. The agreement is Iberian, so it also applies to DIT Portugal agencies and to Ávoris Group brands in our country, namely Nortravel, Jolidey, Catai, Travelplan, Rhodasol, Marsol, LePlan and LeSki. Speaking to the Portuguese agents present at the convention, after the announcement, Lander Arriaga, who assumes from now on the general direction of DIT Gestión, assured that this agreement will allow “the best conditions in a wider range of products” for DIT travel agencies.
About the reason for this agreement, Jon Arriaga explains to TNews that “the situation has changed and so has tourism”. “After covid-19 changed, it evolved a lot and independent agencies had to make a leap, otherwise they would be left behind, as in the past. We needed a very powerful company that would provide things that we cannot provide. And that’s what the deal is for, for the Ávoris group to bring more to the table.”
Asked if there will be changes to the group’s structure, Jon Arriaga says no, assuring that the team will remain the same. “Nothing will change. We will have the same team. In fact, we have appointed a new director. Lander is going to take my seat. I will be at the back as chairman, but the day-to-day will be taken over by him gradually. We needed a generational change”.
As for partnerships with the Portuguese market, Jon Arriaga says that there will be new developments with a significant impact. “The Portuguese market will now undergo a very important change. We are creating, for example, an air consolidator just for Portugal. This is very important. But not only that, we are also working hard so that the webpages are created in Portuguese. The reality is that, currently, the pages are made in Spain and then translated into Portuguese”.
This is not the first time that DIT Gestión has signed an agreement with a major group. Last year, the company signed a preferential agreement with World2Meet, which did not prevent a significant growth in sales of the Ávoris group by DIT agencies, Lander Arriaga revealed. “We have an excellent relationship with W2M and we will continue to have very good conditions and the agencies that want to continue to sell W2M are in the right to do so, we are independent agencies and we are clear that we will always remain independent agencies.”
For the first time, DIT Gestión held an international convention. Last 30 April, 400 Spanish and Portuguese travel agents travelled to Cuba. After three days in Havana, the group headed to Cayo Santa Maria, where the convention was held, at the Valentin Perla Branca hotel.
